CPAP Cleaning & Hygiene

CPAP Cleaning & Hygiene

One of the most important factors in maintaining CPAP compliance and good hygiene, is taking proper care of your CPAP equipment. In order to have successful CPAP therapy, you must be willing to make your cleaning maintenance a priority in your everyday life, to ensure your device and accessories function properly and effectively.
Fortunately, setting up new cleaning routines in taking proper care of your equipment is very easy, and vitally important to avoid harmful bacteria and mould from developing, and to keep clear from the risk of respiratory inflammation and infections. Additionally, our masks are made of gentle, non-irritating silicone. And while silicone is a very comfortable material for masks and the pillows, improper care can reduce the lifespan and breakdown the material earlier than expected. With a little adjustment to your regular morning routine, your Dream Sleep Auto CPAP device and accessories will work at their best capacity so you are able to get that much needed healthy sleep and extended use from your purchase. To simplify your cleaning routine, we suggest the following recommendations:-

  • Open the chamber lid, empty existing water and wash in warm water with a mild detergent
  • Rinse well and allow to dry on a clean cloth or paper towel out of direct sunlight
  • To prepare for use, fill chamber with distilled, sterile or filtered water. Do not use tap water due to the potential risk of damaging components of the device from minerals and chemicals
  • Close lid, and return chamber to sit inside the CPAP humidifier, ready for use

  • Before using the mask or pillow, wash your face thoroughly and avoid the use of facial moisturisers due to the oils that encourage the breakdown of the silicone

CPAP Water Tank Chamber

  • Once a week the water tank chamber should be soaked in a solution of 1 part white vinegar 3 parts water for approximately 15-20 minutes before rinsing thoroughly with distilled, sterile or filtered water. This is to remove any mineral deposits or fine white powder that has formed from use.
